Gearbox out question

Featured Replies

Gonna have a go at changing the clutch myself to try save a few quid. Am still in process of watching vids and gathering info etc but just read something about loosing oil as you take 'driveshaft cups' out

I was thinking i didnt need to loose any oil...

Can someone explain if they got a few mins what i need to do with driveshafts to let me remove the gearbox to get access to clutch etc

Thanks

Surely removal of the clutch requires removal of the transmission? Which will certainly entail loss of oil. I've never done the job on this model, so can't give you any specifics.

If you have some good sources you could link the best ones here for reference. Could be useful to others in the future.

There's no need to remove the cups as the shafts can be unbolted from them so no loss of oil should occur.

Just be sure to keep the box supported at all times as it is very heavy. I dropped one once and ended up in hospital :D
