Turbo Removal

Featured Replies

Has anyone removed and replaced the turbo on a 2010 Oct VRS TDi ? My car goes into limp mode under heavy acceleration - and the fault code clears after turning the ignition on and off. Very typical of sticking turbo vanes. So far I've tried Innotec cleaner, had the actuator replaced and checked twice and have replaced the Boost Pressure Sensor.  The only thing left is to remove the turbo and either replace it or get it refurbished.

Has anyone here ever removed and refitted a turbo on one of these engines? If so, how difficult is it and is there anywhere online with some good info that may assist.

Many thanks

hi

to remove turbo first take the exhaust pipe off underneath. 5mm allen key

under bonnet remove plastic air inlet pipe and air filter assy.

remove boost pipe and throttle flap assy.

remove egr valve

reaching down back remove egr cooler and feed pipes.

remove inlet manifold

remove exhaust manifold complete with turbo.

loosen the bracket holding the acctuator to turbo and see if the vanes move freely

if it stuck split turbo  in half and free vanes off.
