What is the next best engine after the 1.9td?

A 2.0td! And only because I have one! On a serious note, it's down to what you want and what you need the vehicle for. There's nothing wrong with the 1.9td mind, and now everyone is panicking about diesels, so you will/may pick one up cheap.

    If you're talking diesel I'd go for the 2.0 TDI with the BKD engines as although they've got the EGR valve they don't have the dreaded DPF to worry about.

    Petrol, I'd have to be biased and say 1.8tsi. Mint.
