Steering Angle Sensor Issues

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Been having issues with the steering angle sensors on my 07 vRS. Replaced Both of the sensors one on the rack and one on the steering Column. But still have 00778 No commutation coming up as a fault in vcds. I also intermittently have the ABS,ASR,Handbrake and Steering lights come on the dash. I've changed the battery and the alterator is charging the battery ok. Any ideas ?

PAS pump has it's own ECU, if you have no communication then you need to replace the entire pump unit.

If the lack of communications error is to the PAS pump then it is also possible the CAN bus wiring is damaged under the battery tray.

However I have replaced 3 pumps and typically the fault is caused by the pump electronics being degraded by water ingress.

Replacing the pump is not a hard job and replacements are now more reasonably priced than they used to be.

Would a faulty pump cause lights to flicker aswell?

There will always be a certain amount of flickering from the headlights under high load situations and if the sensor to the PAS pump is faulty then it could cause the pump to work too hard.

Another thing worth checking the alternator load wire connection is not broken at the connector on the front of the gearbox.

Mine lights near enough cut out for a split second then the dash would light up. I'll check that wire tomorrow
