Wheels

Featured Replies

I have just picked up a 59 plate MK2 VRS Estate and will be looking to carry out a few subtle mods. One thing I would like to sort is the wheels! I'm okay with them being 18's but I'm not keen on the skinny tyres and 7J rims that will only really safely take and carry a tyre width of 225 or 235.  So, what VAG wheels in 18'' in something like 8 or 8.5J will bolt straight on and not give me any offset or clearance issues? To keep the rolling radius pretty close I would be looking to run a maximum of 265/35/18 on the rear and probably 235 or 245 / 40 on the front.

Learning curve starts here! :-)

Any suggestions along with pictures if possible would be great.

Cheers,

Mark.

going to struggle with genuine VAG wheels that width, you're looking at audi A6 but most will be 19''x8/8.5J  for example audi speedline 20 spokes are 19x8.5

or A5 / RS6's 19's

the only ones I know that are 18x8.5 are aftermarket but you have to be mindful of the offset

also 59 if it's a FL will be running neptunes which are 18x7.5

Cheers Gissin,

They are indeed Neptunes that are currently on the car, I didn't realise they were 7.5J.....  I have a 245/40/18 - so I may get that fitted on one of the rims just to see what the fit is like.

245/40r18 require an 8" rim, so does a 235/40r18.  The rolling diameter will be right at the limit compared to the factory size of 225/40r18.

The biggest 40 series tyre you can fit (using manufacturers recommended sizings) to an 18x7.5 rim is 225/40r18.  You'll need 8-8.5" to run bigger widths.
