Remote Hatchback opening

Featured Replies

More strange antics of the Superb in the cold! Last two mornings I have picked up the car keys and walked outside to find the hatchback open. My thoughts were that I had inadvertantly pushed the middle button on the keyfob and the electric tailgate had opened accordingly. At the end of the first day I made sure the tailgate was shut when I left the car and also when I went to bed. The plot thickens as pressing the tailgate opening button on the keyfob does not open the tailgate nor indeed close it. The signal is obviously registered by the car as the indicators flash. The tailgate opens/closes by all other means (car internal button/exterior tailgate button/ virtual pedal). Any ideas?

Senility has finally triumphed!!! Since I never use the remote hatchback opening facility I assumed that just a quick press of the appropriate keyfob button, as for opening and closing the doors, would suffice for opening the hatchback. I have found that,in fact, a sustained press is required to open/close remotely.

Hi Robby - sorry for the daft question, but have you actually solved the problem? There was quite a long thread on this

- most common view was sitting on the fob was causing the problem. Do you think this was also your issue? I'm a bit paranoid about this one as I park remotely and potentially the hatch could be open for many hours before I would find it. I'm also planning to disable the "kick" open option (haven't got the car yet).

Yes it was definateley the key fob which caused the problem or to be more accurate me not understanding it's operation. On both occasions when I found the hatch open I had been fiddling with the keys on the key ring which also contained the fob. I  pressed the hatch button without doubt ,

Thanks Robby  - good to know you got to the bottom of it.
