Superb II Alarm going off

Featured Replies

Last night at 02:10, I was woken by the built-in alarm in my Superb II sounding off.  I used the key fob to shut it up and rearmed it, but it went off again a few minutes later, and again, and ...

I eventually went out to the car and found that three (strangely not all four) door windows were partly down as well as the alarm sounding.  I opened the car up, shut the windows, ran the engine for about 5 minutes and then locked up and went back to bed (this time without interruption).

Any hints on what could be wrong?  I really would like not to have to suffer this sort of false alarm.

Thanks

Dave

If I had to guess, the freezing weather that are having has caused moisture to get into the ECU or maybe window relays and caused the windows to open. Once they have opened the pressure inside the car would change, which would trigger the volumetric sensor into thinking the window has been broken, hence triggering your alarm.

Perhaps worth checking the OBD for any fault codes, else consult dealer if under warranty to see if there is anything wrong.

I took it into Listers Skoda Coventry and they say the initial look suggests a fault with the siren failing to talk to the computer some of the time.

They've asked for it back for a couple of days next week - I'll post when I know more.

Careful. Is it on warranty? That doesn't make sense. The siren is nothing more than an output device. The alarm is controlled by volumetric sensors amongst others, to see if the car is being swayed etc. Perhaps strong winds?

It was the alarm siren.  It's polled by the ECU quite often so proably hooked into the CAN bus.   Replaced (£££) and all is fine.

They have an internal (non-replaceable) backup battery which can fail after a few years.

We have just bought a Superb Tsi 1.4(2014) and were woken by the alarm this morning which on inspection had been triggered by one of the back windows going down of its own accord.Sounds similar. We’ve not even had the chance to drive it because of all the snow!!
