Dim the Dashboard Lights

Featured Replies

Hi All and appologies if this  has been covered before but i couldnt find it
I have a 2016 Executive and i cant work out how to dim the dash lights without pressing a load of buttons on the infotainment system, is there a short cut as thats not very conveniant when driving down a dark road at night ? I can see some models have a dimmer just to the left of the main light switch but mine has a blanking plate ?

Many thanks

Not that I know of, but I've found the 10% setting pretty much perfect for all conditions.

Think you need to use the menus on the infotainment. If it was an Audi or VW there'd have been a physical dimming control.

I've dimmed mine as far as possible in the infotainment system but I could swear that sometimes it seems to self-adjust...but as I can't drive along looking at the dash all the time I may be imagining it!

The dials in most VAG cars will dim automatically if you've not switched your dipped beam on when the sensors deem it dark enough.  It's meant to be a safety feature/prompt for you to turn your dipped beam on.  If you leave the lights set to 'Auto' then this shouldn't be an issue, you just need to set the level of sensitivity in the infotainment menu.

The sensor that the dials use is on the dial itself, a smaller slightly darker circle about 5mm wide.

Interesting, thanks!  Though I only have manual lights, so presumably won't have any way of changing the sensitivity (not that this is an issue).
