I have got a 2000 Felicia Pickup 1.9D, I would like to replace the engine with an upgrade. Would anybody know what would fit best. I've heard about the Golf GTI engine could be a possible replacement, but I'd like to know a definite.

 

Gearbox will also replacing as it's knackered. Any help will be appreciated.

@KennyPap A 1.9TDi should be a more or less direct replacement for your SDi, a 1.8T fits, and there's at least one Felly out there with a VR6...

Your options are limited mostly by your ability and/or budget. (Virtually) anything is possible, but the 1.8T conversion is not straightforward, and I do not imagine the VR6 transplant is either. Speaking from experience I can tell you that a Felicia / mk2 Caddy pick-up with a 1.8T transplant is great fun to own and drive.
