Saabs

Featured Replies

just taken a saab 9-3 1.8t out for a test drive and ooh its slow and has very vague steering mixed with a crap gear box. he claimed that it had a 150bhp but it really didnt feel like it. it suffered badly with road noise too shame as it looked good lol

well thats one car crossed off my list

The best Saabs were two-strokes ;)

Yeah, the 9-3 feels slow even with the 210hp 2.0T in it. :(

Big car.

look good though :) Ain't volvo's Subaru's underneath or am I getting mixed up with summat else?????

saabs are part vauxhall i believe, no idea re volvo tho :)

D'oh! Meant Saabs use Scooby Mechanicals.................

Saab is owned by GM/Vauxhall, the 9-3 is often quoted to be a Vectra in drag, the 9-5 is still on bits of 9000 chassis and the new one is horrid due to the chrome headlight surrounds which are a little too bling for my taste but no doubt will catch on.

Volvo is owned by ford and used to (or still might) make jet engines for Saab fighter planes.

Saab is using Vauxhall Diesel engines (Alfa Romeo JTD???) and Volvo are using the Ford/PSA developed units. The new Focus ST uses the Volvo 2.5 5 pot Turbo unit from the V70 T5.

Share and share alike!

I still liked my old man's Saab 9000 CS 2.3 turbo. That was pretty quick and oozed luxury :D

The Saab 92 is a scooby, but not available in the uk

I think it is Saab 9-2 that uses Subaru running gear and underpinnings.

Chris

I think you will find it's a bit more than running gear and underpinnings

ivan marnie has given me the green light now on the TV buying im just getting cold feet lol cant decide between the sony kdlv40 and that pio 436xde :(

Had 2 Saab 9000s in succession as company cars back in late 1980s early 1990s. Great cars with huge amounts of room and still one of the best ergonomic layouts for a dashboard going. Broke my heart when I wrote off the second one.

The real problem is the costs of keeping them on the road. Saab parts are ridiculously expensive as are the stealers. Still no problem for me as it was a company car. that is until after the accident - for new bonnet and front, radiator etc it was going to cost more than the 3 year old car was worth!!!!!! Hence the right off.

Quick look ont Trader Website reveals lots of goodies:

Alfa 156 2.0Twinspark, 2005,

You could get an old shape octy VRS for that - with change

Or a NEW VRS Furby

yes thats french and very bad lol

:D

Ford Mondeo Ghia X :D All the toys you could imagine, cheap to run, plus sporty handling and a decent engine. Thanks to great 1st year depreciation, you can pick up a nearly new one for next to no money
