service reminder

Featured Replies

the fabia was serviced in may 2017 but i dont think, being a filling station type service bay they set the service reminder

up until today it was just reminding me...now it rings and a little spanner is on the speedo readout dial

i understand that one can cancel this some way or other..that would be a help

cheers

We have an 09 Fabia and it appears that I cannot do a reset via the trip button - I believe that on some cars you can and some cars you can't - hopefully you will be able to on yours mrcrow.

I will presumably have to talk to a friendly vcds owner to get mine reset LOL

Yes, any fabia you can reset the service reminder.

Note it is only possible if the service indicator (spanner) is showing and it will reset to fixed service intervals (9400 miles/372 days).

For cars with the  page and 0.0 buttons

1 With ignition OFF

2 Press and hold RH 0.0  button

3 After 5 seconds, turn on ignition, still pressing 0.0 button

4 After another 5 seconds, release 0.0 button and press LH button and hold for 5 seconds

5  Release button and turn off ignition.

Earlier models with the one trip button

1 With ignition OFF

2 Press and hold trip button

3 After 5 seconds, turn on ignition, still pressing trip button

4 After another 5 seconds, release trip button and  twist the button to the right and hold for 5 seconds

5  Release button and turn off ignition.

For cars with maxidot

Navigate to the status/settings menu and use the service reset option. Note, you will have to have the doors closed and ignition on to access this menu.

Afaik except with maxidot, it is not possible to reset the service indicator unless the spanner is showing that a service due soon/now.

Resetting the service interval will put the computer into fixed service interval mode (372 days / 15000km) or approx 9400 miles. The spanner comes on 1500km (about 900 miles) before the service due now messages start.

? Andy Stewart - where is he now, well I suppose we know the answer to that!  Sides of the river now suitably protected from the river water escaping onto the streets I think, I suppose that area is my ancestral home, but not where I live! Used to have lots of "good" shops, globalisation sorted that situation out, well we need to blame something nasty!

Hi xman - I thought I had tried all the usual methods to reset our service indicator but I will retry when the weather improves a little LOL

I had read somewhere that some Fabias could not be reset using the trip button method - I have reset previous VW group cars ok !

It is that same Perth Geof  :)

Gawd Andy Stewart LOL - our local muso when I was a kid was the late great Jimmy Shand ;)

My GF's dad was a Black Watch man !

In a previous life I had the pleasure of marching up and down the hill behind a pipe band whilst an RAF apprentice.

yes jimmy shand

i used to hang out at fort william when i was a biker 1961-65...and never forgot to take my cromach just in case we would tak the road to the isles and the far cuillins

what apprenticeship did you do in the RAF...i did marine engineering in the shipyards...repairs and new work but i did don RAF uniform when i served in the ROC 1964-190 at turnhouse and underground post C1 bo'ness...

spotting was still done then as exams...flash silhouettes

cheers

geof

Hi Geof

I did A Fitt A training as an apprentice (aircraft fitter airframes) - later changed to A Tech A (technician)

Followed by 45 years as an a/c technician - after I left the RAF in 1983 I became dual trade Airframe/Engines but I never had any formal training with engines,as I said on the career thread my mis spent youth messing around on motorbikes and cars helped me no end LOL.

LOL I did flash silhouettes as an air cadet in our recognition team.

Nice part of the world you live in :)

I have just tried it again and following the instructions to the letter - no reset and now will have to readjust clock again as the clock time moves as soon as I twist the button c/w.

Firstly it will only work if the service spanner is showing

Secondly, you may need to be sitting in the car with the doors shut

Extend those times to 10 seconds.

Remember to keep the trip button pressed in throughout.

Final step maybe its twist the trip button while its being held in.

It took 3 or 4 attempts before mine reset. (Single trip button 09 htp)

i think that could be the key

if the trip button is in to change trip reading..."circuit"...could be it also zero's the service mileage

(you would think i knew this all a long...clever clogs me)..

glad someone was brave enough to try it...i will give it a go as well...i have another clock in the car

mrs crow cant see the on on the dash so i put it on her side of the binnacle..slightly pointing to me as well

it isnt digital so my brain takes it in easier

It only takes a minute to reset the clock to the correct time.

Thanks for reply xman

Spanner is showing

I was sitting in with doors shut

I did try it @ 10secs but after further googling I might try it out to 15secs

I have tried it a few times and agree it could be technique partly, but I have reset other vw group cars successfully (our other car is an 02 Polo and I have previously reset Golfs and  a SEAT).

I did see somewhere on the web that some fabias cannot be reset using the button - but I got sidetracked this arvo and could not get back to either the web or the car.

the button would go to the side and then nothing happened...then a burst of number changing..
