Any 2017 Audi A4 (Sport) Experts or Owners Around?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I'm really hoping someone can help without me having to register with an Audi forum....

Background - my parents have just taken delivery of a new A4 (Sport trim) and I'm struggling to help them with a couple of things. They're not very technically minded and much of the tech in the car is alien to them. I thought it would be less alien to me as a Superb III driver and tech enthusiast, but it's a bl**dy minefield.

I'd be hugely grateful if anyone can help with the following:

1) The MMI Navigation comes with the central dial but no rectangular touchpad in front of this. I assume this is standard for the Sport. I thought the top of the round dial should be touch sensitive to allow you to 'draw' letters for input, but this doesn't seem to be present/working. For Sport trim, should it be? Surely the only way of entering text can't be by twisting the dial a million times to select individual letters?

2) In my Superb, autohold applies the brakes when you stop at lights etc and the P light next to the speedo goes green. If you then stop and get out of the car the P light turns red and the handbrake is applied. In my Dad's Audi it works in the same way, except that you seem to need to apply the handbrake manually using the switch when you turn the ignition off. Is this correct? I would have expected the handbrake (red light) to be applied automatically whenever the ignition was turned off or the drivers door was opened. I'm also not absolutely sure if the light on the autohold button next to the handbrake button should be lit (to signify it's on) or unlit (signifying it's off I would assume) or whether this is reversed.

3) Audi Connect. Cripes, that's one for another day.

I would be eternally grateful if anyone can help with the above. It's driving me mad, and my parents queries that I'm struggling to answer are driving me madder.

Thanks in advance!

As per normal.......have you got the hand book?.

Have you got a spare week or so to go through all of it?

Commiserations.

Haha! Yes, I've looked through the manual - most of it doesn't seem to reflect the reality behind the wheel so to speak. I can confirm that Audi manual's are no better than Skoda ones....

Worth searching for a vlog?

I'm not sure what you mean by a vlog to be honest. I've searched for videos on MMI text input etc, but all I seem to find are US based videos where the spec is totally different.

Yes, I think they'll need to do that - especially as my Mother seems to have fallen out with me as I haven't been able to provide all the answers on demand..... *shakes head*

Better let the dealer who saw the profit take the pain.

Not sure what you mean by 360 though? Do you mean a general 360 degree overview of the car again? With their memories they'll need to go back in weekly for that!
