Echo in rear of car

Featured Replies

Anyone experiencing an echo in the rear of the car. I have carried a few passengers in the back seats and they all complain of an echo of my voice when I’m speaking.

It doesn’t happen with the infotainment sysyem switched off.

Contacted dealer who says there’s a setting which can be changed so it doesn’t happen but being a salesperson didn’t know which one.

Ive had a look but can’t find anything!

Anyone got any suggestions?

There is an unusual feature on the Kodiaq, where the voices of those in the front can be relayed by the infotainment system to the rear speakers, to assist conversation.

(It is, in my view, pretty pointless, as it assists only one way: those in the front don't get the voices relayed from the back!)

It is mentioned in the handbook:

Electronic voice amplification for driver and passenger
Applies to Infotainment Columbus, Amundsen, Bolero.
The voice enhancer allows transmission of the driver's and passenger's voice on the speakers in the rear.
› To set the voice amplification volume, tap the [menu] sensor field and then tap the function surface ([volume]→ Volume → Electronic voice amplification .

Great!  I’ll give it a try!

I don't think it's pointless. People at the back are facing forwards while talking anyway. The driver doesn't have to turn back and talk which is very useful.

I've left mine at 5 or 6 which is adequate. It gets echoey at higher amplification.

^^^^ This

Just press the Volume up button and you will see in the top right the icon for the voice enhancement - press that and reduce it right down
