Front window issues

Featured Replies

Seen previous threads via Google search but doesn't seem conclusive so wonder if any current help is available. 2004 TDI estate.

Driver's window has been bit randomly minorly sticky or unresponsive ( or over responsive) for many a year - then last weekend it's decided not to open at all, or only after a lot of pressing, jabbing and holding the switch, then very intermittent or just won't open.

Took off the switch today, examined & sprayed with contact cleaner and it worked well for a bit, but then got worse again. I then recleaned but no difference. Took door card off and tried cleaning the pins to the motor but didn't disconnect (some memory when doing door lock that you shouldn't...?).

Passenger door window worked fine but now won't work on driver's side switch, works OK on passenger side I think.

My instinct is to buy a new switch - but any other ideas or tests first?

Also where's the best place to buy a switch or motor if I need?

Thanks.

New switch, they're crap I'm afraid.
