What version of VAGCOM for 2012 TPi S?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I  run  a Fabia 12valve 3 cylinder and want to make a few improvements - but everything on this car seem to have to be coded.

I have serviced it but just reset the service indicator to normal fixed interval servicing for now.

The first big thing I want to do is fit the secondhand instrument cluster I bought that adds  fuel and temperature gauges. The new cluster also has the bigger information window in the centre so I assume it has maxi dot as well.

Does anyone know what cable and software i need to buy to transfer the immobilzer code and correct the mileage so I can fit the new cluster?

I'll keep the car a while so I don't mind investing a bit in buying the software . But I don't get any response from any of the firms selling the software and I want to know that anything I buy will do the job before shelling out £200+ on something that just resets the service lights. And I definitely want to steer clear of my local Skoda garage .

Does anyone know what I need to buy to do this job and add options later on?

There's only one version of VCDS (Vagcom ceased to exist about 10 years ago in reality) and it's a software program/product which is updated regularly by the developers Ross Tech. You'll need a Ross Tech cable to use, and I guess you're asking what cable would be the best for you.

If you can find a Hex Can USB cable for sale then that would do for your car, and the software is freely downloaded from Ross Tech website, however the Hex Can USB cable has been discontinued since the introduction of the new Hex V2 and Hex Net cables. The new range of cables work with the latest generation cars (2016 or so onwards)  while the Hex Can USB will probably not.

The above is related directly to genuine Ross Tech VCDS products, not to the shiny stolen hacked products available from Ebay or certain other online sellers. Non genuine VCDS products are frowned upon on the forum. Buy genuine or if you choose to buy non genuine then be prepared for little help from the manufacturers or members on here really.

You can check the list here for genuine Ross Tech suppliers. http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.php

However, I've a feeling that a cluster swap may not be something you can accomplish with VCDS alone. You're probably going to need further hardware and software, but I'm unsure what you'll need as I haven't ventured into that area.
