Smallest wheel diameter?

Featured Replies

Hi. I need to sit my car on some steels until my new wheels arrive (I’ve sold my current ones). What’s the smallest I can go? Will 14’s fit? Just worried about the size of the brakes. The car is a VRS estate.

thanks for any help

I believe 16s are the smallest that will fit over the 312mm front brakes.

You can get 16" steelies in 5x100 but it might be cheaper and easier to find a set of alloy wheels from a Golf/A3/TT/Leon etc.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I’m guessing normal steels will go over the rear brakes? Just need to find some for the front. The car only has to sit on them on my drive. I can walk to work. Might even have to be axle stands for a few days haha.

15" steelies I'm sure would go over the rear brakes. Probably 14s too but you're probably more likely to be able to find 15" steelies anyway. Have a look on eBay/Gumtree and local Facebook groups, you should be able to find some not too far away.

@dutchboyvw - You'll need a VAG 16" (steel or alloy) to go over the  standard front 312mm discs. You may even need a 17" aftermarket wheel to fit over them.
