picked my 64 SE estate up from the dealer on Monday so I am slowly going through things finding out how they work etc and I was wondering if I should have the downlights fitted in my wing mirrors or if they came pre-wired just without the lamp units also the same for puddle lights in the doors?  

I thought the lights in the door mirrors were the puddle lights. The door lights are red and for warning approaching vehicles that the door is open.

I don't appear to have either fitted to my car was wondering if the wiring was there already and it just needs the light units fitting ?

Just been out and had a look at the car and it looks like it only has reflectors in the doors and no lights in underside of the mirror units :-(

some models dont have Down lights i dont

Anyone know if there's wiring in unit even if car didn't come with puddle lights?
