How much has leaked? The mech unit only holds 1 litre of oil that is separate to the main gearbox oil that is 1.7 litres.

Ask your mechanic where its leaking, its pretty uncommon for these to leak, usually the hydraulic pump goes in the mech unit but no leaks. The mech unit is sealed by rubber and torqued in so get that seal checked out.

Truth is, If its affordable do the clutch while the box is out.

They said the gas filled accumulator at the top has a break in the aluminium casting. Quite a common fault according to them. They don't try and repair them as they are under pressure and could cause an injury.

When was your car built and when First Registered?

I see on the picture the 2nd and 4th gear sensor is that replaceable? I beleive they just replace the whole unit when they fail  (sorry for going off topic)

It's a 60 plate, something tells me it's a 2011 car, not sure if that's built or registered though, don't have any details to hand. My dad has a 2015 Yeti and that hasn't had the recall by the way.

I was just checking yours was not built in 2012,

There was no RECALL, just a 'Recall Action' that VW got the DVSA to agree to and the DVLA giving Registered Keepers Details.

VW persuaded VOSA now the DVSA it was not 'Safety Critical, so a Voluntary recall, not all are done.

So Service Campaign '34F5'.

Your dad needs to check since his DQ200 is 2013-2015 if it is a 7 speed DQ200 that '34H5' is not required.

That is a Software Update because there were 'Pressure Issues; and potential leaks.

34F7 might show here, '34H5' does not, so you need to ask.

I asked skoda today if they can change my dsg oil said no its a sealed unit that does not require ou changes at 40k!???

Correct there is no Guidelines or service schedule to change oil at 40,000 miles.

But did you ask a Service desk person, or the Master Tech.

The Oil can be changed if they want to do the job. That is 2 different oils, for the MCU and the box.

If they do not want the job then good, they are likely to balls it up.  Best talk to someone that knows about DQ200 DSG's and not answering phones or talking to people handing in keys.

Hey guys,

Hello from Brazil.

I've been reading many topics here to understand a bit more about DQ200. This gearbox were used here from 2013 to 2015.

Info about the gearbox is not easy. VW says that all DQ200 that comes to Brazil uses mineral oil, but we still have lots of issues with mechatronics.

I read here something about a software update related to possible pressure oil leak. That seems what I've seen here.

I didn't see any comments from your discussion about newer DQ200. Is this gearbox still in use?!

Welcome.

There were issues with some DQ200 DSG from some VW / Skoda plants 2013-2015 and a Software Update was introduced.

This is '34H5' in the UK.

Best check and see for your vehicle.    DQ200 DSG are used in 48 different vehicles / applications, and if you look in the Fabia MK3 section you will see there were still issues for some from 2015 on.

This is the 2013-2015 Campaign.

This is the current issue for some.   (There are more recent issues as well with DQ200's and 1.5 TSI EVO engines for some. Again there are Software Updates.)

I just got the car back, they managed to marry the clutch luckily but it doesn't shift flawlessly as before, but still better than our previous Citroen. I got the old unit off them.

Checked dad's car and there were no recalls/campaigns/bodge actions required, or on the history.

Thanks for all the info it's very helpful to know the history, and along with the garage's advice helped me make a decision about doing the work or selling the car. I'll do a bit more 'due diligence' on the next car we buy!

@Peatie

Do you mean they have not done the job correctly?  Not shifting smoothly if it did before is a fail, but you do need to cover a few miles to be sure.

The DSG has had a reset...

Where was it done and have they updated software as well as fitting new clutch pack?

?

How much has this cost?

No I wasn't trying to say they haven't done it correctly, it's smooth enough. They warned me that the clutch might need replacing before doing the work, but as it was only 47k miles they would try. I really didn't want to spend another £1k on top of the £1750 to do the clutch. Wavertree Automatics, don't know if they did the software. They said they get about 2 of these type jobs a week.
