A5 Octavia Columbus Navigation System

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Wondering if someone can enlighten me.

My navigation system speaks English, but the map is in German.

When I put in my destination, it always starts from Germany even thou I've saved my home location.

I do not have any disks/SD cards, etc, so was wondering how I get a UK map?

Any help greatly appriciated.

Press the "Nav" button. Then on the Nav screen touch "Current Position" and see how many satellites are tracking and locked onto.

Most likely it'll be the GPS antenna which is ronnied and you'll have either 0/0 satellites tracked, or 0/10 or suchlike. If it's not reading something like 5/10 or similar then a new GPS antenna should be a simple fix.

Updating the maps is not something which would fix the issue, nor updating the software either.

Thanks. Checked and have 0/11, so a new GPS antenna it is then.

Are you able to supply a new one and how difficult is it to fit?

Thanks again.

Easiest fix (and cheapest) is one of these from Ebay. Pull the unit, find a suitable place behind the unit to stick it (or it's magnetic and just stick it on the back of the unit maybe), and replace the antenna plug with the new one.

I can supply you with a new roof mounted antenna if necessary, but mine are DAB, GPS, GSM, FM/AM and are about £60.
