Final service within warranty. Stuff to check for and get fixed?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

At approx 34k miles and 32 months my Mk3 DSG Scout tells me it's due an oil-change service.

This may be it's last trip to a main dealer, so I'm wondering what things might be fixable on warranty, but that I haven't quite discovered are broken yet.

For example my Mk1 VRS had anti-roll bar bushes done at the end of warranty after I proactively pushed the dealership to check carefully.

Any thoughts?

If its diesel, ask them to check & change the water pump...

Its a common fault on older 2L TDIs which causes overheating.

Or you could tell them you've had a couple of times that the coolant temperture goes just before the red line & you get a warning to stop the car.

Then 10s later it returns to normal & you can continue.

This way it is logged & investigated whilst Under warrenty so if it goes again afterwards (which seems most common) you can say the problem was reported already & they should fix it for free.
