Vrs shaking on acceleration

Featured Replies

My vrs has started to develop a vibration/shaking between sound 1900 and 3200 rpm.

It started doing it gradually and now seems a lot worse than it was a few weeks ago.

In 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear its a vibration that seems to rattle all the interior like all the panels are loose, then 4th and 5th it becomes a 'shake' particularly noticeable on full throttle but still there on more gentle acceleration.

6th gear it doesn't seem to occur at all. My first thoughts were engine mounts, the rear lower mount has been changed which made no difference.

I rear somewhere it could be the dmf causing this, but there is no rattle on idle and no change in noise whether clutch is in or out.

Can be revved without a load and runs perfectly.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Could be a broken clutch spring moving about but I would bet it's the dmf. I did a 320i bmw after Xmas and it was shaking the car apart. Bmw wanted £90 just to diagnose it as he was convinced it was a misfire.

Tell tale was the shake on the down rev with throttle / injectors closed.

Good luck. Puddy  :)

Thanks for the reply puddy, mine only occurs on 'normal' acceleration. You can stop it by accelerating very gently or keeping it below  2000 rpm or above 3000. Doesn't occur when letting off throttle.

Really confused as to why its not showing other signs of failure like the usual rattle on idle or difficulty pulling away smoothly
