Estate (Combi) boot cover

Featured Replies

First of all, hi everyone. I am a new Skoda owner and while I like the car a lot (it's Fabia II Estate 1.2l) there are some quirks with it as expected when buying a second hand car. Now, my boot (or trunk for the Americans) would be the biggest one at the moment; what happens there is I cannot pull the cover all the way as the blocker on one side is missing (pictures), also the cover's bar is chipped on that side. Can anything be done with it that is relatively easy? No wanting to make it worse :/

Left side (good):

Left side (blocker there):

Right side (chipped bar):

Basically the boot is exposed all the time, which I really don't want it to be (some things there may be tempting at times to break in, and I can't be leaving them behind all the time and drive with empty boot as it's not what the boot is for...).

Many thanks in advance for any help at all!

I had that (missing latch/blocker) on mine I picked up last week - they said it had just dropped down and fixed it.

Take the panel off and have a look see.

For the chipped bit, all I can suggest is to make it back up with more material glues on, I had a broken inside panel (the left right storage compartments in the boot) and that just got glued back together.

Seems they use brittle plastic.
