Fabia 1.4 16v non starter

Featured Replies

Evening all, driving the Skoda the car hiccuped and brought on the engine management light, had it code read and the only one was 0638 throttle pedal / actuator. 4 days later it failed to start, turns over and tries to fire on a couple of cylinders but wont catch on to run on its own. Checked the fuel pressure in the rail 3 bar, voltage at the pedal 4.67 volts so borrowed a pedal with same codes to try it to no avail. (interestingly the donor Skoda fired up without the pedal connected) Checked and cleaned spark plugs, all giving a good spark. Checked ECU connectors for water ingression  and all dry. Remove throttle body and decoked it with cleaner (had a look at the drive cogs for missing teeth etc and all appears ok) Battery fully charged but still not firing enough to run on its own. I have had a Bosch kit on it looking at the live data and everything appears ok, (coolant temp reading 5 degrees today) I crank till the oil pressure warning light bleeps at me but no codes are appearing. Any ideas ladies and gentlemen would be greatly received, cheers, Joe.

Check for broken wires where they go into the throttle body connector. They are thin and prone to breaking.
