Tuning box?

Featured Replies

Having only had my vRS a month, I was never really intending on fiddling with it. However I have looked at a couple of tuning boxes. I really don't want to go down the re map route, I prefer the plug and play and removal capabilities of a box.

One concern I have is my mileage on my vehicle. It is 90k miles.

Is this potentially an issue with regards to tuning or increasing the performance slightly?

I was considering something like this:-

https://www.racechip.co.uk/shop/skoda/octavia-1z-2004-to-2013/2-0-tdi-rs-cr-1968ccm-170hp-125kw-350nm.html

The entry level unit seems very good value indeed. Without pushing the performance too high.

J would be really interested in people's views. But I don't need to hear the timing box v remap debate. Lol.

Thanks in advance :-)

That brand seems to get reviews on the Superb section of the forum so should be good. The cheapest certainly looks good value with the few extra horses from the other ones looking very expensive. Although it looks like you get a little more functionality as well in terms of the app.

It certainly seems good value.

Was wondering if it's more of a risky option on a car with higher mileage.

It will put a little more stress on parts but it is only adding value small bit of power so not exactly going to massively stress anything. If something does break after the change then it was most likely on the way out anyway so would have broken at some point in the near future anyway.

Thanks for the heads up. But after some thinking  I am pretty sure I am not going to bother now.
