Immobiliser stopping my car from working

Featured Replies

Hi , I have a 2004 skoda octavia estate and i went to start the car this morning after it was working fine the night before and when I tried to start her up this morning it would start for a couple of seconds then cut out ! Then I noticed the yellow light on the dash board was on so I googled it and it’s the immobiliser warning light , any ideas on how to fix it guys would be a massive help

Do you have a spare key? Does it have the same issue?

Usually, there is a small transponder in the key. If the car doesn't recognize this one it shuts down the engine after a couple of seconds. The transponder can be lost, or defective -> A dealer can reprogram a new one.

Could be also the reader itself (in the steering collumn). In that case your spare key should have the same issue. Don't know if the reader is replacable, or is part of the key lock.

Could be the transponder or the wiring from the cluster to the reader coil in the ignition

Check your 2nd key

where are you located?
