Hi all,

 

My Scout is due back next week after a 2 year lease but I can't find the spare key. I had it a few weeks ago but I think one of my kids has moved it and it could be anywhere! They have a tendency to put things in the bin to tidy up so god knows what's happened to it!

 

Does anybody know how much a new key is? Or what the penalty is for returning it without a spare?

New keys aren't cheap, so I'd expect a couple of hundred at least. You'd have to speak to the lease company regarding the penalty (VWFS?). You may have an issue anyway as I think most dealers would want to see the V5 to make you a new key, and the lease company usually retains this.

I think it is about £200 which for a modern key is cheap. My Volvo was £600 for a key and my Mercedes is about the same, but both are keyless. That’s the cost I’ve been used to hearing, it makes me more interested in upgrading the Citigo with another remote. 1 remote and 1 cheapo fixed key isn’t good enough Skoda!!!

I didn't realise that about needing the V5. Had a good look around the house last night and couldn't find it. I'll have another look later on but it's not looking good!
