1.2 Tsi Charge pressure control actuator EPC fault

My wife's car (2012 model) is recently suffering terribly with extreme limp mode, EPC lit & EML on sometimes too. I have read the codes and get P334A - Charge pressure control actuator. We have learned that it generally happens when starting the car but if we stop, switch off, then switch on again - it usually clears and the car then is fine to drive. However these events are becoming more and more frequent. Browsing online has led me through various forums and descriptions but few solutions. The local garage has been trying to get a replacement actuator but can't. So we thought we'd try ourselves and phoned the local skoda dealer to ask if we can order this part. The parts guy said no - it is unavailable and there's a 1000 other people trying to get the part in the UK! Doubting his work we then phoned a different skoda dealer who initially said 'yes, no problem, it'll be here in a couple of days' - then they called back to say actually there are none in the UK but they can get one from the Czech republic but it'll take up to 10 days...

So now I'm beginning to wonder about this situation... this engine is in VW and Seat cars too and if it is a faulty part after 6 years then it doesn't sound good. Yet I don't read many reports about it.

So - given it is an intrinsic part to actuate the turbo - I think I'm reading that a lot of folks had their turbo replaced under warranty (sadly not our situation) - instead of changing the actuator... I have read that the actuator is calibrated to the turbo -by the manufacturer - so maybe it is impossible / impractical to change the actuator without changing the turbo?

If anyone else has had this problem and has a solution I'd really like to hear it - especially if it doesn't relate to a turbo change! ...

Where was the Parts guy, Skoda Specialist Cars John Clark Group?

No - it was Thomson & Potter Skoda in Perth...

The ones that said they can get it are west End SkodaStirling..

Update... The Skoda dealer in Stirling did source the part from the Czech Republic and have fitted it and as yet... no more problems; its been 5 days and no dash lights, no limp mode... here's hoping!

Hello out there, I just found this thread and have a similar problem to what you're are discussing here.

I have a VW Polo 1.2 turbo that I bought second hand from Japan (huge mistake). I realized when I bought it that it had turbo issues so I replaced the turbo and actuator. Even though I replaced these components I still ha a P334B00 Code, so I got another actuator. Now every time they calibrate or actuate the new actuator the car only moves properly for about 50 metres then it loses power and the error code P334B00 comes again. We have done this repeatedly and still message comes back.

The mechanics say actuator is fine so what could be the problem?

Please help.
