Water leak into drivers footwell HELP!!!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have a 2008 Skoda Octavia VRS TDi Hatchback sunroof edition, I drove through a deep flood the other day and the following day I noticed water in the drivers foot well and behind the drivers seat. I thought it was due to the flood that I had driven through and thought it would gradually disappear! However after some time it didn't and I noticed after a heavy night of rain I would get more water inside the car! I also have noticed when driving in the rain, water drips in just underneath the bonnet catch pull. Engine water level fine, so I have eliminated door seals and coolant. I took it to a garage today and they didn't want to touch it because of the labour hours involved! they throbbed me off saying its the windscreen? is this common or is there something else that is prone to these models? Any help appreciated.

Hi.

I had the same problem (on a VW Passat) a few years back. It ended up playing havoc with the comfort control module thus giving the car random intermittent electrical faults. Anyway, it turned out that the windscreen drains (In this case the Passenger side under the battery) were blocked with old leaves and sludge etc.. Bit of a poke around and a good cleaning and the water drained out.

Hope this helps.

Have a search on this forum for sunroof drain blockages, it's a common issue for the drain tubes to block from the sunroof causing water ingress to the footwell via the area you mention. Someone last year posted details of how to investigate and clear the issues and also asked affected people to report it to him so it could be raised with Skoda UK as a design fault.

I think the member in question might have been #blackspaven
