VRS Tyre Noise or Bearing?

Featured Replies

On my second VRS tdi estate 17 plate FL version. Running Goodyear F1 tyres but getting tyre noise that sounds similar to a wheel bearing problem. Car has only 12k on the clock.

Anybody had similar issues or experiences?

Yes, the wheel bearings seem to be made of brie.

27,000 miles in, and two bearings down.

Is it front n/s? Most susceptible to pothole damage...

What does it sound like if it is the bearings? I get quite a lot of noise from the rear on the motorway and starting to wonder if it's bearings rather than tyres.

NSF wheel bearing changed at 20k miles on mine.

No issues with my first Mk3 pre FL but this does seem different

MK3's are prone to saw-toothing, feel the inner edge of your back wheels and if the wear pattern is uneven then it would be worth spending £50 on a four wheel alignment and if worn new tyres and then look at if its a bearing.
