One folding trend we need to reverse

Downward trend for active users. :(

It doesn't matter how little you can contribute' date=' but you count as a +1 on this statistic, and ultimately the points you score take us that little bit more up the table. :)[/quote']

Yes, definitely not so good.:( How strange, best month folding figure, and downward trend on the active users. Inactive folders currently account for 50.5% of the Briskoda Folding Team.

As Jason says, every contribution is very welcome. So EVERY PC FOLDING COUNTS. It dosn't matter if you can make 1 PC or 10 PC's available for folding, it is all for a good cause.

With 10,000 members, we can make a difference.

I've got my own downward trend to deal with, at this rate my 8th place will be lost within 2 weeks, not sure whats going on, I've got 3 PC's down now but the scores don't seem to be recovering - I'll have to try and go in early and check them over, I'm off work next week as well so bound to get some machines switched of rather than just screen switched off - BUMMER!!!!!!

And I seem to be catching Colin again.

I have pulled out of the folding simply because it was messing my PC up....it ran very hot when folding and generally made it known that it didn't like it. I have tried various things to get it to work....so my pc is now a non folding machine for the forseeable future

How do you monitor CPU temps? I've got CPU-Z on both my PCs but there's no temp indicator. I wouldn't know if either of mine are running hot - Both make the same noise if they're on 100% or totally idle. Which can be a pain as I don't know from the noise they make if they're having network trouble and not sending results. :(

The case of one of mine next to me is red hot, and has been for the 12 months its been folding. Not let me down yet, and its used as a home theatre pc for TV and video and music, BBC News is on right now on the 42" plasma as it folds away in the background. These P4 3.0HT CPU's seem remarkably resilent to heat.

Mines easy............. when it's folding you can do toast on the fan output at the back

The air coming out the back of my AMD-64 is cooler than room temperature - perhaps because its moving? But its not even close to being warm.

It's cold in here... I quite like the heat my 2 PCs pump out LOL

Might be my AMD-64 sits atop a desk, not underneath or in a corner. Plus its got an odd vent in the side with a funnel, right where the CPU sits, so the CPU is sucking in air from outside the case, not inside. :) I think that helps a lot in my setup. Case was only a cheapo thing from Ebuyer but it looks to be pretty good at its job. :D

J, get yourself speedfan, here :)

cool. Speedfan seems to be telling me my xp2200 is at 33 deg C. And I've never opened that one up to see whats inside. Gonna put it on my AMD-64 now. :D

And the AMD-64 is only at 31 degC - I did notice the RPM is under 2000 on the amd-64, yet is almost 6000 on theXP2200. Wonder why they're so different? Can only assume each one is setup to do its best. :)

downward trend on contributing members, eh? Couldn't have anything to do with the fact that every machine i run it own (1 constant, 4 intermittents) are all loaded down with 10,000+ frame WU's? and they take an eternity to do them, running other jung as they do.....

Hopefully, the dual core mac arriving next week can help out......

I've been studying the latest core's assigned by the folding team. There's a plethora of smaller work units, and not so many larger ones now. The largest credit I think at the moment is 400 odd for a unit which takes my AMD64 about 2 days to do. :)

It does help to have clean machines though with no other background stuff. I've turned off the spyware and AV programs to allow a clean devotion to the folding only. The machine is not used for other things though. :) The XP2200 does have AV and spyware running too, as its my main PC as well. :)

@Rob, if you run the console version with the -configonly switch, in the advanced settings it will ask you how much CPU you want to assign to it. If you cut it down to 50 or 60% maybe you'd still get some folding done without overheating so much.

All - is it possible to get more than one workunit downloaded so you don't run out of work to do when you're away from an internet connection, as I am when away on business?

I've still got my test server and my work desktop folding like good 'uns, and I'm chasing tfboy to get 17th place back. I think I'll go and add my work laptop to the team......

Tried that and it split the WU up and kept sending it back one piece at a time ....did 900 WU in less than 24 hours ....and it still got hot

without folding it's normal again so i'll just leave off folding for now

The one I had in my last machine had a HUGE heat sink on it
