Cruise control - what am I doing wrong?

Featured Replies

Took my Octy for its first long distance run since it came into my pssession, and tried out the cruise control. According to the handbook, you can set it in "permanently" by making sure the switch at the top of the arm is switched on, and then you press set. Even if you brake, it should then return to the speed you set.

I did all that, but when I braked, it didn't return to the speed I had originally set. What am I doing wrong?

By "permanently" they mean it'll store the speed preset but you do need to "reactivate" it. In your scenario, after braking you then need to slide the on/off switch over to the left and then release. The car will then accelerate up to the preset speed and then hold.

:)

If it's like in the Mk 1 Octy, you have to press the "resume" switch. If you think about it, a CC that automatically took you back up to speed after braking would be highly dangerous

If you slow by braking or depressing the clutch you get back to set speed by pressing RES [resume] the other end of the SET switch.

If you increase from set speed by more than a certain amount it cancels the memory and you have to reset. If you only slightly speed up it will go back to set speed when you come off the throttle a bit.
