Central locking issues.

Featured Replies

Sometimes when I lock the car the red light on the drivers door stays lit, the alarm is on and all the doors are locked except for the rear drivers side door. When opened the alarm goes off. You have to open and close the door several times before it locks and the red light flashes as normal. A garage thought they had fixed it after checking the wires supplying the door but now everything locks when its supposed to but when you unlock the doors the rear drivers side door remains locked. Annoying for passengers but at least I can leave the car locked.

Did they check the wiring for the faulty rear door or the drivers door, too? Might be worth checking that one if they didn't. Also, have a nosey at the wiring in the passenger front door. Door wiring is often a cause for concern as they are thin and snap with all the opening/closing of the doors, especially when its cold and the wires flex less. Have a good look inside the bellows for snapped or snapping wires. The drivers door will have some of the central locking system in but the front passenger one might, too. The usual suspects here for failed wires, is the mirrors and window motors.

Does your Fabia have  a vcds socket that plugs into a computer? Just wondered if it would help.
