Parking Sensor fault?

Featured Replies

Picked up my brand new Fabia last week and the last 4 days I've been having issues with the parking sensors not working properly. It pops up saying function restricted and a constant bleep like I'm too close to something. All the sensors are clean and it happens intermittently. Dunno if its down to the cold weather? It seems to be the front sensors from the exclamation mark on the display. Has anyone had the same issues in cold weather or at all?

No but looks like a Skoda dealer visit to me where they can assess it and fix it under warranty.

Yeah and they want £12 to pick the car up from me

A courtesy car would cost £12 (for insurance).  Tell them that's too much and you'll make a complaint to Skoda UK.

They said a courtesy car would be £18. I did say it should be free as the car is less than a week old, but the person I spoke to didn't seem to care. I will be making a complaint.

For a car less than a week old, then I would be complaining and getting the loan car for free. It could simply be the sensor is loose somewhere.

Let us know how you get on.

I managed to speak to a manger this afternoon and he agreed that I shouldn't be charged. Got it booked in for Wednesday so hopefully they pick up on the fault and fix it.

I do not have park pilot on my fabia, the dealer retrofitted them and from day 1 they did not work, was a loose sensor, but now am fighting my dealer who damaged the car not once but twice in their care!

Mine have been working fine in the cold weather - definitely something larger at play! Hope they get to the bottom of it.

How big of a job is it to replace a sensor? Bumper off? Same day hopefully.

Should be same day and will be a bumper off job.

Threaten to exercise your right to 'cooling off and changing mind on the car due to the fault, and get the car picked up for free and at the same time get the courtesy car for the nominal £10.

I had this fault on my VRS once by going over speed bump too fast. (Permanently beeping but on one side when in reverse)

After a few days it sorted itself out. (probably more speed bumps corrected it)

It went in today, they said one of the wires was loose on a sensor so they connected it properly and said it's working again now. Should be getting it back in an hour so hopefully won't have any more issues with it.

Hopefully fingers crossed it's solved the problem.

Mine are being temperamental again so have asked garage to check them when it's in for some damage to be fixed.

My reverse sensor shows the same funtion restricted pop up, do you know what else causes that apart from loose connections if there are more ?
