Tax Disc / Parking Permit Holder?

Featured Replies

So the car (MK 3.5) has this piece of plastic on the windscreen, I assume that it's designed for holding a tax disc or parking permit or something like this?

Firstly I have no need for it and secondly if I did I'd want it on the passenger side! Did everyone else have one of these and if so was it easy to remove?

I normally use it for car park tickets on my MK2.

At a guess, you'll need to remove the A pillar trim and then unbolt it to remove it. You might find the passenger side also has a bolt holt to allow you to fit it there :)

Also for parking tickets etc. It's one of the best gadgets on the car. Save having to peel off stickers and fix them and they don't stick and drop off and get you a fine that you have to contest and argue. I could go on. Simply clever. :)

When I purchase a parking ticket (which isn't often as I'm Scottish...) then I find it far easier to mount / remove the ticket from the drivers seat than have to lean all the way over to the passenger side of the car. Last time I'd have used one was back in 2002 - when I got rid of my V70!

Why go to the trouble of removing it? TBH I haven't even noticed it on my Skoda.

Mine's on the driver's side. That's a Liverpool City Council parking permit in the picture. :wondering:

Thanks all, I'll give it a bit longer and see if I get used to it then

I also prefer it on the drivers side so i dont have to unlock the other door of the car to put the ticket in.

Use it regularly for parking tickets, or thing I shouldnt forget to take with me like a shopping list.

Im not sure removing it will be so easy, probably you will need to remove the material covering to release the screw or clip holding it in place.

Yes I know it's a Kodiaq.:D

One of the best little gadgets on the car, I was lost when it snapped off in my old Mk2!

I used it often for car passes when at various race tracks

Yeah but the kerb is in Warrington ;)

(ok, I can see you've just cleaned it)

A truly "simply clever" fitting, why no one else fits ones I will never know. The Fabia we tested had one (had to pay while we went for a coffee), wife hopes the car she gets has one.

As for the now obsolete Tax Discs they had to be displayed on the passenger side so definitely not for them.

Very funny. At my age I need that much room to bend down, get sat on the kerb (with mi cushion), to clean the wheels. :crying:

My old Xantia also used to have one, handy for parking tickets (as in pay and display rather than fines!) as you don't end up with any sticker residue on the windscreen
