Boot interior trim removal

Featured Replies

Hi,

had a search for this and couldn’t find anything, hopefully this isn’t a repeat and sorry if it is!

My girlfriend has 2015 Fabia hatch and the grab handle for closing the boot has been chewed off by a dog, I know there is a screw holding the handle on, but does the trim panel have any more screws holding it on? Having a bit of trouble removing it to replace the handle and wondered if I was missing anything obvious or if it just needs a good pull to remove the trim panel.

Thanks in advance

Bump!

Also, I am attempting to retro fit one of these handles to a 2015 Polo (after modifying the rear trim).  So, these handles are secured to the metal frame of the rear hatch by a single screw, though you might need to ease the trim "out" a bit, I'm guessing, to remove the stump of the original one and to slot in the new one.  Normally the clips retaining these VW Group trim panels are very strong, so a lot of force will be needed to remove that trim panel, and due to the "angle" of these fastening points, there will be a preferred order of removing it - but as I've said, I would think that if you eased the area near the pull down strap out using plastic trim tools, you might be able to get the old strap out and the new one in.

Thanks for answering! I was worried about breaking the trim if there were more screws than just the one on the handle! I will try to manipulate the panel around the handle and I will get back to you as soon as I can have a look at the car. Girlfriend now using it for work - for a week or so. Stupid weather and lack of garage don’t help!
