Transmission code in AGU

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just a quick question.

What is the exact transmission code of the transmission found in the mk1 1.8t Octavia with the 150hp AGU engine? I'm aware it's a 4 speed 01m but I'm told that there's a secondary designation as well.

Should be on your options sticker on boot/trunk floor.

01M would make that an auto box, could you give us a bit more info on model type and year to be sure?.  As Wino said though the sticke would be your first place to check.

Well that's the thing guys. The car isn't mine, so I cant look for the boot sticker lol. It's one I'm looking to buy. The transmission is giving trouble, and I'm trying to find out more information so I can decide whether to repair the tranny and keep it auto, or just look for a manual box instead

When you say look for a manual box instead, I take it you mean look at another car?.

If not, and you mean converting to manual transmission, unless you have a donor car, I would not think it would be remotely economic to do at that age due to the sheer volume of supporting parts required - linkages, shafts, mounts etc.

What model of Octavia is it?, a Laurent and Klement?, also what is wrong with the current transmission that makes you think you need a replacement?.
