Central locking issue on mk1 hrs Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi there - hopefully I've placed this post in the correct place. When using keyfob all doors unlock bar drivers side. Key opens all doors. I have removed the rubber gator inbetween door and all wires are fine. Removed door panel and checked the plug that goes into the window motor. This is totally as new as it was replace 3 years ago. Red light on the door pin is not doing anything, the inside locking button does exactly the same is locks the 3 doors and not drivers. Interior lights, mirrors all operational. Is there any other easy fixes that I can try before I book it into garage? The part I don't understand is if it is the door lock motor or micro switch that's packed up how does that stop the red light flashing? Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Tel

Sounds more like the door loom to me. A visual inspection of the loom won't tell you anything, you would have to use a continuity meter to check between the plugs for the window/lock/lights and the corresponding pins behind the A pillar. Does the door open tell tale work on the dash?

hi there yes the door open warning does show up on the display. I'm guessing I'm going to have to order a door actuator. Ive got the car booked in on Wednesday now, but mechanic said I'm better off pre ordering 1 on ebay as theyre around  £20, otherwise he said if he has to get a genuine 1 sent over theyre around £100.

Hi, I've got the exact same problem, I've only had my car for a month, and I'm slowly getting around the probs, did this actuator sort out your problem ?

I would be very keen to hear.

Could be broken wires inside the insulation, the microswitch located inside the locking mechanism or one problem I found was when I pushed the large connector plug into the window winder/control unit I lost central locking but if I pulled it back to where the plug stops are then everything worked fine.
