Sat Nav SD from ebay?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

First post, so I hope this is in the right place.

I've just picked up a second-hand Octavia vrs 2011, my first skoda, and I'm hoping to get the sat nav working. When hitting the Navi button (I think it's a Columbus unit), I get the following message:

"can't launch navigator Storage Card\Aponia GPS Navigation\Aponia_GPS_Navigation.exe Please check the SD card"

The SD slot is empty, but the seller told us it's as easy as buying an SD card off Ebay - is this right? I've had a look, and they look to be around the £50 mark, which is a lot to spend if when I get it and plug it in, it doesn't work. Most other forum posts seem to be talking about updates, rather than getting it to work to begin with - has anyone else bought one of these cards for anything other than an update?

Many thanks in advance

Pete

Post a pic of the unit. Doesn't sound like a Columbus...

Thanks Rusty - pic below

That's an aftermarket system which is designed to look like a Columbus. I have no idea what gps / sat nav system it uses or what card you'll need, but for certain it's not going to be a Skoda - VW card so I wouldn't waste any money there.

Just had a quick check round google. www.aponia.com isn't responding and looks like it's defunct. That doesn't bode well for getting anything working any time soon I'm afraid.

It looks like it might be a Windows or Android unit so maybe you could load a different mapping system onto it, but I have no idea about how you'd go about it really. I only deal with genuine Columbus systems.

Thanks Rusty - I was worried that might be the case. Guess I'll stick with phone gps for now. Really appreciate your help!

Cheers

If you pull the unit out there might be a manufacturers / distriibutors name on the unit. Contacting them for assistance might be a help?

A bit more googling found this site who appear to sell your unit. However, they're not a cheap unit, and even the links to their maps activation page (aqponia again) are dead.
