Fabia Rear Bump Stop Replacement?

Featured Replies

OK,

Has anybody on here had to replace the rear bumpstops on a Fabia?

We have a 2001 1.9TDi estate with one in two bits and the other very close to being in two bits. We

Easy job mate.

Jack up and suport the car on axle stands. Remove the wheels, remove the arch liner, remove the bottom shock absorber/beam bolt. Two bolts up inside the wheel arch and the whole lot will drop out.

Undo the shock absorber top nut, slide off the bup stop and replace.

Got plenty of pics if you need them but I can't upload to here.

Cheers Stu,

ust out of interest do you reckon they could be split and glued, as you would if cutting them down for lowered suspension? Just wondering as it would remove the need for stripping down.

It would work but I wouldn't think it would be that succesful to be honest. When I fit Eibach's I do cut and glue the stops using Araldite but you have to clamp them to make them stick and if yours has been broken for a while it will not only be full of road dirt but also degraded.

They are cheap and it really is an easy job.

I have 2 listed -

6X0 512 131 A - 120mm

6Q0 512 131 B - 123mm

Both are £7.24 each plus VAT.

Obviuosly you'd be best advised to confirm the correct number with your dealer.

Not sure I still have them now I'm afraid.

Can you buy ready shortned ones ?

Not really as they are shaped to fit in the top section of the shock absorber mounting.

Spax do some bump stop replacements but I don't think they are suitable.
