Well as a fella the wrong side of 45 with more CDs, cassettes and vinyl than most folk I know, I've decided to go retro and step back in time. Now I did mount a VW dash cd changer with an original Skoda 502 cassette player (had to make a loom) but it looked rubbish and the cd player didn't work too good. So i shelved that and put the original single cd player back in but hooked it up to a skoda cd player (looms fitted better) and have used that for a few months. Any how I missed not being able to play my tapes or use my tape adapter to listen to digital radio via my phone. So after searching eBay i got hold of the complete VW Gamma head unit, cd changer, spacer plate, wiring loom, code, instructions all the bits for a few quid. Couple this with a fiver for the top trim piece and I now have an audio system that sounds better than the stock skoda set up and fills all my criteria. 

 

 

Great work. Looks pretty cool. The non-green illumination would set my OCD off, though!

The Octavia changer I was using had red illumination as well so with the green HU it just looked funny. This looks cool in the blue. 

 

It is possible to fit with out the correct loom but its just untidy. Hence why I bought complete. Went straight in with just s little fiddling.
