Replacement Windscreen with Rain Sensor

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Well the unfortunate happened and my windscreen is now cracked :( Basically was attempting to remove the old mirror (non dimming / non RLS) to do the RLS / auto dimming mirror retrofit

and I accidently cracked / chipped the windscreen near the base of the rearview mirror.

Anyhow moving forward I booked an appointment with Glass company for a replacement and paid the excess for it. But this time I made sure to inform the operator that the new windscreen should have the bracket for the rain sensor. However the operator said he will need to confirm it with the insurance company as the windscreen with RLS is more expensive?!?! And mine didn't come as standard.

So what are my chances? Insurance will reject it and I will have to paid for it? Or just get the standard one fitted?

Your photos look like Star Trek spatial anomalies, with no reference for scale.

I wouldn't bother replacing it.

Well the Glass company is going to replace the windscreen for like-4-like and won't fit a Rain sensor glass due to it going through insurance. :(

Question to ask if its just a surface damage should I be worried about getting it replaced?

I had a Vec GSI years ago and it got a crack, when I booked it in I told them it was a heat reflective window (which it wasn't), when they turned up they never questioned it and fitted heat reflective.

Its probably luck of the draw....
