New Octavia vRS Estate owners in Somerset

Featured Replies

Hello, some time lurker, first time poster.

Picking up our new Octavia vRS Estate next week as a replacement for the wifes Fiesta ST which I've never particularly got on with (terrible seats, crashy ride) as she's expecting so need something more practical to take child + dog.

My vote was for a nice condition B7 RS4, but apparently too old and I have enough toys already, so after driving the Karoq and a few other SUV type cars we settled on the Octavia as she missed the punch of the ST and didn't like the higher seating position.

Gone for the 230bhp petrol, manual gearbox, Corrida Red (hate dull colours), keyless entry, heated front seats, front and rear sensors and rear camera options.

Congrats on the impending arrival. Welcome to the hardest work and the best fun you'll ever have!

Sounds like a nice motor. Estate cars are the way forward for children and all the associated crap they 'need'. You'll be amazed how easy it will be to fill that boot up. I've a 7 and a 10 year old and a family trip would easily fill my old Vectra estate. The new, as yet untested, Superb combi is the same volume but a different shape boot, so hopefully it will be as good.

Good choice to replace the ST!

Hopefully! The ST was a big mistake, made the decision based on a short test drive, really good price and glowing reviews, but after the first long drive (5 hours+) by an hour in I was considering turning around and picking up my older Fiesta Zetec-S or my Elise, that would have genuinely been more comfortable. Ended up passengering home in the back because the front seats were crippling for me.

We were a lot more thorough this time around, and have always been quite keen on the Octavia vRS, so hopefully its a good choice.

Picked up today from Winchester Skoda. Very good experience, Jamie was very friendly and helpful and whole thing was absolutely minimal hassle.

Initial impressions, seems a really nice place to be having come from the Fiesta ST. Seats are VASTLY better and ride quality is in a different league. Wife drove it home as its primarily her car, so fiddled with some of the settings and whilst I'm not a huge fan of complex in-car infotainment and tech there are some useful bits in there, and being able to save preferences for each driver will save some arguments. ;)
