Dealer add ons on the order form

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone else has done this?: Last week I left a dealership having signed an order for a new car, along with dealer add ons that were pushed onto me e.g  gap insurance plus those cosmetic insurances: alloys and minor damage, Plus Lifeshine. Basically, was caught off guard and instead of asking for these to be taken off the form not that I'd even asked for them, I let myself be reassured that I could tell them later to remove them when the car is built and ready for delivery. But I'm really uneasy about this even though I rang back a couple of days later and said as much, just to be told again not to worry, I won't be bound to have these dealer add ons. But I've since read that any order form signed on the dealer premises is binding. I can totally understand this when in regard to an actual car order but I'm hoping I won't be tied to accepting the other stuff, or have I been had? In the end will I be made to? Just wondered if anyone else has gone through this and if they managed to get it sorted. I know it's my fault for not just saying no I don't want these but stupidly I was too nice! Have no idea why I lapsed like that but it happened and as guessed I'm kicking myself.

Intriguing, I had the same when asking for a quote from a dealer in Aldershot.  Perhaps it's a more common practice than I thought.   At this point, surely you can ask them to amend the order and remove all those items, and then re-issue?

If not, you could cancel for piece of mind?  And then set up a new order, might add a week to delivery, but you wouldn't have the above worries.

Like with all products, you will have a 14 day cooling off period from receipt of your policy documents for GAP and SMART cover. You can cancel with no charge and get a full refund of any payments already made. If you have just ordered the car and are now waiting for delivery then you should also be able to cancel immediately by contacting the dealer. Same goes for Lifeshine, as long as it hasn't been applied yet, which in your case it won't have as your car is still being built!

Sales staff, commissions, just what many / most do.  Take advantage.

Buying, leasing, financing to hand back before final purchase, , what ever, get back into the Dealership and have anything you do not want removed from the Order.

If buying, then best add the 2 year extended warranty now, before the car gets First Registered at least if keeping over 3 years.
