Head unit

Featured Replies

Hi all got the standard Skoda head unit in my Octavia with the changer in the boot and it sounds pants. how would you say just changing the head unit for better unit eg Sony sounds on the OE speakers

When you say it sounds pants, where are you looking for the better sound, bass, treble?.

A head unit change may not reap all the rewards you are looking for, also - what headunit have you got as standard, the symphony unit or the DX nav unit?

Fitting an aftermarket head unit did improve the sound quality for me, however it's still not great (lacking bass and can sound quite tinny).

That is exactly where I was going with my initial comment, vrsTom put it well, you will only start to get better sound when you install decent components and amp the front speakers. A sub could then be added if you like your bass, but amping the fronts makes quite a difference.

Worth mentuoning that the disc changer wont work with an aftermarket HU..

And youll need to get an aerial booster and wire it into the connection harness or fm radio reception will be terrible.
