Pressure Washer Hose Reel

Featured Replies

Anyone got one and offer any recommendations?

I'm looking to rig up my Nilfisk C110 pressure washer in my garage rather than having to drag it out of the shed each time I wash the car.

I have already upgraded to a longer high pressure hose (the standard plastic one was poor).

The reels I've seen have a short hose between the reel and the pressure washer meaning you don't have to connect and disconnect each time, ideal for me as I'll be wall-mounting. They are quite pricey though...

£67.99...

Never heared of such a thing!

I just have a standard hose reel mounted on the garage wall

Do keep us updated and let us know how you get on with this

Good luck

There is a thread over on detailingworld jampacked full of info on this sort of stuff - it is in the tools section.

Wouldn’t the pressure drop over a long distance be prohibitive? Just going on my rugby pitch watering days. With a standard hose, what was a cracking jet in the clubhouse, became like dribble of pee halfway along the pitch.

Yeah, I saw that thread, daren't link it as I've had a telling off before!

From that thread, this reel is the same one I priced up...

The thing is, a pressure wash lance hose is quite a bit heavier than a normal garden hose as most are metal reinforced, which means normal reels don't last long, and they dont come with the pressure washer brand connector on them, they normally just have a hozelock type connector.

silver1011, I've seen one of those reels in the flesh, they are a sturdy bit of kit, and allow you to run QR connectors to the washer if you want. But as you say they are pricey.

You may get some degradation of water in the line if you don't use it for a while though, serveral people on that thread have reported the startings of stagnant/soapy water for the first few seconds after they unreel the lance and use it after a period of inactivity. Not sure how you would get over that, as there will always be water between the washer and the lance hose connector when you roll it up if you are intending to plumb and mount the washer permanently in your garage and just reel out the lance hose

I've ordered one, arrives tomorrow!

A local pressure washer supplier I spoke to this morning will also fit a 2 meter link with all the correct fitments for me to rig it up to my Nilfisk pressure washer.

I've also gone for some swivel joints to make it less likely for the hose to twist. I'll keep this thread updated as I go!

I'm sorting a Mosmatic gun with the multi tip lance for my setup, Steelghost over on Detailingworld has a lot to do with my poor finacial status this month.

I'm thinking about buying a telescopic TV bracket so that the hose reel can pivot out away from the wall slightly to ensure the hose doesn't snag on the other bit and bobs I've mounted on the wall...

Should be durable enough!

Nice idea on the lateral thinking with the TV bracket!

I like the idea of this and have considered similar for my Karcher, but the costs have put me off.

It's a good idea but I'm not convinced about the durability though. The TV just sits there once it's mounted and moves rarely. Your hose reel may be subjected to lot more and different forces. Just a thought. :)

Good point, I think like a lot of things in life quality can vary, hopefully I can find a high quality TV bracket, I'll have to do some exploring. I'll also need to find one that has a mounting plate that'll support the hose reel base plate.

I know the ones we have here in our works office are moved / adjusted daily and seem pretty durable.

Time for some internet research :D

Yeah, it was definitely a treat.

The reel, 2 meter whip, fixings and the labour to fit it all together came to £95 inc. VAT (I already had the 15M hose).

Considering the reel alone on eBay / online is £89.99 I didn't think that was too bad, but you're right 100 big ones is a lot to spend on a reel.

A big part of it for me is that I have limited space. Getting the pressure washer and hose up off my garage floor was the biggest priority.

I'll take some pictures when it's finally up!

Apologies If I'm blind and you already said; who supplied this for you, please?  I have a Nilfisk and this looks very useful indeed.

I work just around the corner from these guys, so it was a walk-in / over the counter deal.

Its a pretty big outfit though so I'm pretty sure they'll be able to ship out to you...

They're a Nilfisk agent too.

If you decide to get something similar I'd be happy to help where I can, I commute from York up here daily.

 Thanks for this thread Silver, I've been considering something similar for a while as it is arduous to drag everything out when in reality the washer is only used for a few minutes for foaming and washing off. I'm keeping an eye on your progress....

My plan is to mount the pressure washer up the wall from where it is propped now, the reel will then bolt to the wall just above the Hozelock hose pipe reel...

The question is do I pursue the TV bracket proposal. I've just measure the holes on the reels foot, they're 8.5cm apart...

I wouldn't bother with the TV bracket, I don't think its up to the job at all

  • Author

I think you might be right, there don't appear to be any TV brackets with a VESA measurement of 85mm x 85mm either so it would need modifying. More hassle than it's worth.
