New superb estate

Featured Replies

Hi everyone - replaced C class with SE executive estate 190. First impressions -its big, quick - pretty impressed...

Welcome :hi: and enjoy your new Superb.  How to you find comfort and build quality compared to the Merc?

That's a fair question...

The Merc (C220 cdi estate) was bullet proof - did 80K in 4 years and only needed parking brake replacement. Still felt like a new car when it went back.

Skoda first (bad) impressions - took a long time to find a comfortable driving position.

The columbus sat nav doesnt appear to show traffic jams, it just diverts me off. without warning . Why are there separate traffic and navigation pages, surely these should be integrated? or maybe its me?

Ride is less sophisticated / joggly over bumps and skips over bumps on corners when pushing on

Far less spangly trim - but what should i expect, its a skoda, but interior is fine for me

Mpg not great but car is still new

No rear camera

Dont like AAC wish it had standard cruise - too intrusive slowing down on the brakes and wont let me drive anywhere near as close to the car in front as in the Merc.....

Good points - its quicker (190 v 170), Apple Carplay works, its bloody massive, better looking, 18's look good but a bit noisy depending on tarmac.

Overall i'm happy for now provided the mpg goes up.. :)

Welcome to Briskoda

Hi Smashyvan and welcome. There are (IIRC five) different distance settings for the ACC if you find it currently leaves too big a gap. If you indicate to go around the car in front it will not slow you on the brakes (unless you are really close). There is a useful "real world MPG" thread in the Mk3 Superb Owners section for you to have a look at. If yours is new and your MPG is based on consumption during the recent cold weather, yes it will improve significantly over the coming weeks / months as it warms up and you run the car in. I believe your SEL Executive has the adaptive driving modes (comfort, normal, sport etc)? Try playing with those if you aren't happy with the ride quality. I find ride quality in my MkIII with 18s is better than the previous MkII with 17s - but the horrible stock tyres are noisy IMHO. It seems from other owners you can retrofit the camera if you really want it. The Columbus can be a bit hit and miss. For example I had mine set to give "comprehensive" route guidance, and it would tell me that the routing was being changed due to traffic conditions (and even give an estimate of the delay) but had to turn that off as the lady in the dash literally wouldn't shut up. I now have it set to "brief" which is much better for me but I seem to have lost the route change reasons as a result. Try the different settings and see which you prefer. Lots of toys to keep you busy.:)
