The tailgate on my 2008 skoda scout will open if you use the key (remote open) but it will not open if you use the button on the tailgate. I have replaced the button on the tailgate (purchased from a skoda garage) and still no joy. I have pulled off the panels on the tail gate and inside the car  where the loom enters the car and could not find a break in the loom. Any guidance please as where next to look or tests to carry out.

Does everything else electrical in that area work?

 

Boot lights, number plate lights, rear wash wipe, high level brake light etc?

Everything seems to work fine. The wiper, the rear window heater etc
