Puzzled

Featured Replies

We have been enjoying the delights of Cornwall this week when the third puncture occurred in 17,000 odd miles of ownership.

This time I had to fit the space saver to drive to a tyre depot and enable the repair.

During the drive I was not surprised by the reluctance of the car to accept the use of ACC but was puzzled by the poor sat nav reception.  Hearing the good lady’s instructions became far more difficult along with plenty of interference.

Once the puncture was repaired and the wheel returned to it’s rightful position on the car all was well, as I rather suspected it would be, but can anyone tell me why this happened?

Thank you.

Poor reception means the lady imprisoned in the dash doesn't know where you are so she doesn't give directions.

Was it just higher tyre noise levels due to the space saver?

Strange

No change in road noise, tyre noise, or for that matter, handling chacteristics, although I was taking it steady as advised.

My impressive lady wife reminds me that sound volume was lost immediately after the tyre pressure monitor advised of low pressure in the near side rear tyre.

”Strange” is a most apt description.

Thank you for your thoughts.

It might be a software bug. When reversing, the radio (and maybe satnav) lowers in volume. Maybe the existence of a (tyre related) warning does the same. Iirc the lower volume level can be changed in some menu.

Certainly a possibility but the interference that comes with the loss of voice is akin to bad earthing on the older type of car aerial.  There is no slack in the shark fin on the roof.  Thanks.
