Stalling when cold

Stalling when cold (first run of the day)
2013 SKODA FABIA SE 12V (MANUAL / PETROL) 19,000 miles

Hello, its been a long while!,

I would be grateful for your advice and help.

This Fabia has just started to give a symptom of misfire, then, on attempting to pull away will stall. Once restarted and keeping the engine running, after a minute or so of continuous running the symptom clears and the car runs fine. This symptom only occurs when the car is first started and is cold (about 3 Degrees Centigrade ambient)
No dash indication shows during the misfire event.
Battery volts 12.11V just before starting, alternator charging at 14.23V at 1000RPM across the battery terminals.

My previous car was a Fabia Mk1 estate. Briskoda was helpful when that car was in trouble.

Your help is appreciated.

At that mileage, have you had the air filter and the spark plugs changed?  Obvious first place to start if battery and alternator are fine. I am aware some Fabias are very fussy about spark plugs/gaps, etc.  (Mine's a diesel so never been an issue).

Is the car used daily or weekly and is it runs where the car gets up to temperature enough.

& is the Petrol tank kept full in winter to reduce condensation / H2o in the petrol?

When was the Air Filter checked or replaced, 4 year or 40,000 mile intervals are all good and well, but Skoda do not know where cars are parked or driven,

seaside, countryside, towns / cities,

and even though only 19,000 miles have the spark plugs been checked or replaced?

Hello to both of the replies, thank you.

Sorry for the late reply from me.

It is looking like it is probably battery - age and exposure to cold weather is the all time killer of lead acid batteries.

Monitoring the voltage after starting the engine it is slow to recover. Alternator is pushing good amperage to re-charge the battery but when cold it is taking about 20 seconds to be up to 13.5 Volts. As soon as the voltage is at 12.7 the engine fires evenly.

Tuesday next I'll try another battery and report back.

Thanks for those who replied it is much appreciated.

Cheers for now
