Suspected split washer pipe

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I wonder if someone can please point me in the right direction.  We have an 04 Octavia Estate 1.9 TDi

After the cold weather our rear washer stopped working.  Easy fix, I thought, check under the CD player for the big pile of water that've previously eaten through our wiring loom in there..... nope, dry as a bone!

Water was dribbling out the rear wash wipe, suggesting it's not a complete break, probably a split.

I checked under the car after operating the washer and there was a pile of water on the ground just in front of the drivers side wheel and it seemed to be dripping from the bottom of the bumper, inline with the washer bottle/washer pumps area.

I've tried to get the washer bottle out to see if it's an easy fix.  I've done as the Haynes manual says but can only find the one plastic bolt holding the bottle in place, there is clearly a 2nd one but I can't find it and the Haynes doesn't show it.    Does anyone know how to get the bottle out?

2nd question, if it's not obvious and under the bottle (once I've removed it).  Would I br right in saying take the front wheel off and remove the plastic wheel arch trim?  I'm guessing that would give me good access to where it looks like the water is comming from?  Am I on the right tracks or has someone fixed something like this in an easier way.

Cheers in advance. :-)

Hi, Had the same problem myself, the nuts for the washer bottle are located, top one next to the carbon filter, just under the wing top, the other is on the chassis rail almost under the head light, this one dose tend to disappear under the headlight, easiest way to get it back is to take out the headlight.
